Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Service & Crematorium Ltd, is a full service, locally owned family business.

Our staff have over 75 years of combined experience working with people of all faiths and cultures, dealing with the daunting challenges that follow the loss of a loved one.

At Nunes-Pottinger we feel that honouring the life of a loved one should not constitute a financial hardship. That’s why we consult with the family to locate the best venue and value available to accommodate the family’s needs and wishes.


John Nunes

John Nunes was raised in Oliver and graduated from S.O.S.S. in 1978.

John and his wife Linda raised their four children in the town they love and now have four wonderful grandsons and two beautiful granddaughters.

Over the years John has been involved with coaching Hockey and Soccer and spent a number of years as Cub Scout leader and youth group leader. For some forty years, John has been an active member of the Knights of Columbus and a dedicated member of his church.

He still has a passion for playing hockey and enjoys cycling, reading, canoeing, walking their dog and spending time with family.

Daryn Pottinger

Daryn Pottinger was born in Flin Flon, MB and raised in Logan Lake, BC.

He started his funeral service career in Kamloops in 1999. Daryn, wife Beverly, children Madi and Jeremy moved to Oliver from Kamloops in 2003 to begin work with John Nunes. The Pottinger family now reside in Okanagan Falls where they love the sunny South Okanagan lifestyle.

Over the years Daryn has served on the boards of Desert Valley Hospice, South Okanagan Minor Hockey and Kiwanis Housing and has been involved coaching minor hockey, soccer and minor baseball.

Daryn enjoys playing hockey, golfing, fishing and the sunny Okanagan weather. He is also a proud member of the Oliver Kiwanis club.

Cory Braun

Cory Braun was born in Ashcroft BC. He and his parents moved to Mexico and then the USA where he went to school. In his teens, he moved to the Okanagan, attending school at Midway; B.C.S.S. Cory started work in the sawmill and worked in the lumber industry for fifteen years.

Over the years, Cory was always looking for a special opportunity. He joined Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Service in 2018, and shortly after was licenced as a Funeral Director and Embalmer.

Over the years. Cory has traveled thought-out Canada, Mexico and the USA, and always found a spot to go fishing. Out of all the places he has visited, he enjoys the Okanagan the most. Going camping, fishing, and spending time with family. One of his hobbies is creating, and engraving items with his laser engraving machines.

Kaila Hald

Kaila was born in BC, and raised in Northern Ontario. When she turned 18, she moved back, landing in Penticton, where she has lived for almost 20 years. She began her career in funeral service at the end of 2022, will be a licenced funeral director and embalmer after finishing her apprenticeship in 2025, and is passionate about the future of funeral service.

In her free time, Kaila enjoys spending time with her partner hiking, camping, and kayaking, learning about wild plants or curled up on the couch with a good book or a crochet project.
