Tribute
On Monday November 4, 2013, Mr. Ray Joseph Parker of Penticton passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Village ByThe Station at the age of 89 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Sam & Esther Parker; brother Cam Parker; sister Carrie MacDonald and wife of 50 years Roberta Jean Jory Parker.
Ray will be fondly remembered by his loving family including wife Eva Parker of Penticton, Don Klassen of Regina, Delores Berendt of Toronto, Verna Hutchinson of Vancouver and Dale Klassen of Winnipeg; son Don Parker (Lynn) of Oliver; daughter Debra Hupp (Jim) of Osoyoos; grandchildren Jeremy Parker (Connie) of Penticton, Jocelyn Kirs (Mike) of Oliver, Ray Hupp (Amber) of Trail and Alan Hupp (Nicole) of Oliver; great-grandchildren Celeste, Ethan, Lincoln, Lane, Chase, Bella, Hunter and Jamie.
Ray spent his career working as a mechanic for the South Okanagan Lands Project and as a Ditch Rider until retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to travel. Ray was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 64 years, the Studebaker Car Club for 30 years and the South Okanagan Sportsman’s Association.
Donations are gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A funeral service will be officiated by Legion Padre Rev. Ray Turner at 1:30 P.M. Saturday November 9, 2013 at the Oliver United Church. Interment and committal will follow at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery Field of Honour.
