Betty Anstey

June 27, 1941 - November 25, 2014

Tribute

On Tuesday November 25th, 2014, Betty Anstey of Oliver suddenly and tragically passed away in Oliver at the age of 73 years.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Ruby Newman and her brother Bill Newman.

Betty will be fondly remembered by her sister Donna (John) Davison; nephew Robert Newman as well as many friends in Oliver.

Betty moved to Oliver in the early 1970’s from Kamloops. She was very well known around Oliver and was constantly walking her route. Betty enjoyed coffee at the Oliver Bakery, tea at Crucetti’s, a glass of beer and occasionally onion rings at Murphy’s, breakfast Sunday mornings at the Elks and was a fixture at the food bank. She was very independent and spent a great amount of her time collecting bottles and caring for feral cats. Betty also loved dogs and all animals. When she was young, she had a huge crush on Elvis Presley and loved his music.

A memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Peter Harris at 11:00 A.M. Thursday December 11, 2014 at the Oliver United Church. Urn interment and committal will follow at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery. A reception will then be held at the SOAICL building at 6010 Main Street, Oliver.

Donations in Betty’s name would be gratefully accepted at the Oliver Food Bank.
