On Saturday, November 9, 2019, Mrs. Ella Wilhelmina Sturgess (nee Ponto) of Oliver passed away peacefully at Sunnybank Centre at the age of 99 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Roy in 1998; parents Christian and Justina Ponto; seven brothers and two sisters.
Ella will be fondly remembered by her loving family including daughter Bonnie (Allan) White of Oliver; son Jim (Sandy) Sturgess of Coquitlam; grandchildren Keri (Ian) and Mike; great-granddaughters Jordan and Avery; her only surviving sibling Esther (Bill) Ledray of Seattle, WA as well as many extended family and friends.
Ella was born on March 30, 1920 in Galahad, Alberta and moved to Oliver in 1943 and operated Roy’s Grocery in Oliver for 32 years from 1947 – 1979.
She loved to crochet, knit and spend time with family.
