She was predeceased by her parents, parents in law, 8 siblings and first born son.
Nida was born in Nobleville, Saskatchewan, on November 13th, 1940. She was the sixth born of 11children. With her family, she came to Oliver, BC in 1955. On July 1st, 1959, at a Cherry Carnival dance, she met the love of her life, Martin. After a whirlwind romance they ran away to marry in Okanogan, WA. on December 30th, 1959. Together they raised their 6 surviving children, in Osoyoos, BC. She was happiest when there were so many family members at home that there was no place to sit. She loved to cook huge Christmas dinners for sometimes up to 40 of her family. After her children were grown, she with her husband had a small hobby farm where they raised many different types of animals such as thoroughbred horses, llamas, and potbelly pigs. She loved being outside with her animals, watching the deer come to drink from the pond, and her cherished hummingbirds.
Nida was a proud member of the Osoyoos Royal Purple, holding many positions including Honored Royal Lady. She cherished the friendships with the ladies she met there. She was also one of the founding members of the Osoyoos Soroptimists.
After several years of caring for his beautiful wife at home, Alzheimers took hold, sadly it became necessary for her to go into the loving care at Mariposa Gardens, where Martin spent countless hours, 7 days a week by her side. Kathy, Marie, Lindsey, Ron, Ronnie, Deep, Maggie, Bennie and so many more, we are eternally grateful.
Her journey came to a peaceful end, with family and care staff at her side. She was the most amazing Wife and Mother. Mom, there are no words to explain the loss we feel. You are, and will always be our hero.
A private memorial service will be held at the Osoyoos Elks Hall. To view the service please visit Nida’s tribute page on www.nunes-pottinger.com

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Zandvliet families. Nida was a very special lady. I spent many wonderful years working alongside her in the Royal Purple. Treasure your memories, and I know there are many wonderful ones.

Relation: Nida was my sister-in-law
Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want, He makes me to lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside the still waters, He restores my soul………..
Your soul has been restored my dear sister in law, God saw that you were tired and took you by the hand, you will be missed on this earth, but we will see you again in heaven. Rest easy, knowing you were so loved.

Relation: Good friend - my partner and best friend was her cousin
It was with profound sadness when I heard of Nida’s passing but, I know she is resting in a much better place! She was special to me as I loved her like a ‘big’ sister and we had many great times and holidays together. I remember going to visit New Year’s Eve several times with loads of family present, helping Nida in the kitchen, etc. It has been an especially hard time for me as, I lost my partner and best fried Louis in June. Nida and Louis were cousins and I feel the pain the family is going thru. Remember always, that Nida is in a much better place now and smiling down, guiding your footsteps on your own ‘life’ journey. Rest in Peace my dear friend!
