A. Barbara Craig Fenwick-Wilson

June 16, 1927 - January 3, 2020

Tribute

Anne Barbara Craig Fenwick-Wilson died peacefully in her sleep in Osoyoos, BC on January 3, 2020.

She was predeceased by her husband, Brian Fenwick-Wilson, and her brothers, Verney Craig and David

Craig.

Barbara is survived by her children Marc, Graeme (Jude), Noni (Stirling), Michael (Kelli), and Sylvia

(Bolero), and her seven grandchildren, Alastair, Selena, Salish (Brian), David, Craig, Jack, and Yolanda,

and one great granddaughter, Lydia.

Anne Barbara Craig, (always known as Barbara), was born June 16, 1927, in Summerland BC, and

moved with her parents soon after to Oyama, where she spent her youth. Her happiest memories of her

growing up years were of summers roaming the hills of her grandmother’s Paradise Ranch on horseback.

Barbara married Brian Fenwick-Wilson of Rock Creek in 1945, at the tender but determined age of

eighteen years. For the next twenty years she lived in Rock Creek, helped run the family cattle ranch,

and raised five children. Barbara and Brian moved from Rock Creek to Osoyoos for a number of years

and then into their cabin at Baldy.

Barbara and Brian were instrumental in the founding of Mt. Baldy Ski Area, where they built a cabin and

skied for many years. Their cabin was always open to family and friends, old and new, and she hosted

many memorable Baldy parties. Barbara ran a Bed and Breakfast at their Baldy cabin, and also ran the

Baldy Bar for several years. Barbara was an early member of the Borderline Ski Club and Mt. Baldy

volunteer ski patrol.

At the age of fifty, Barbara left home and moved to Vancouver to become a Travel Agent and

subsequently followed her lifelong dream of travelling to all ends of the earth.

After fifteen years of travel and work, Barbara returned to Rock Creek where on the banks of the Kettle

River she built a home, planted many trees, established a beautiful flower and water garden, and hosted

many family Christmases and summer reunions of family and friends.

Barbara was a passionate and determined soul who lived life fully with courage and tenacity in all she

did.

Planting trees and creating beautiful gardens, entertaining family and friends, travelling, reading, letter

writing to near and far, were lifelong interests. Barbara also loved listening to classical music, preferably

at full blast. She loved playing bridge with her friends and family; it became a highlight of her week when she retired to Rock Creek.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at a future date.

In honour of her lifelong dedication to helping the environment by planting trees everywhere she went, donations in Barbara’s memory can be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
