Abraham Dyck
July 27, 1937 - March 10, 2013
Tribute
Abraham Dyck passed away suddenly on March 10th 2013. He was 75 years of age at the time of his passing.
He was born July 22, 1937 in Cuauhtemoc, Chih., Mexico, coming into Canada in 1951.
He is predeceased by parents Jacob and Elizabeth Dyck; brothers Jacob, John and Bill; and sisters Helen, Ann, Elizabeth and Nita.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Joyce; daughters Darbi (Ken) Rawluk, and grandchildren Kendra and Tyler of Lougheed, AB; Kim (Paul) Saliken, and grandson Alex of Prince George, BC, and grandchildren Sydney and Blaine and their father Paul Fode of Kelowna, BC; brothers Ben (Margaret) of Castlegar, BC and Isaac of Armstrong, BC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Abe worked for a number of years at the Haynes Packing House. In 1962 he started working at West Kootenay Power and started training as a Lineman, a trade he was proud of and continued with until retiring in 2001. He was also a farmer.
He enjoyed travelling first across Canada, then South Africa, Italy, Mexico and numerous U.S. States. In 2007 he sold the farm and has spent the past 5 years travelling full time, spending winters in the warmer southern states.
He was a member of the South Okanagan Sportsman Association, N.D.P., and IBEW Local 258 Union; past member of the Kinsman Club, Oliver Riding Club, and S.P.C.A.
He enjoyed camping, golfing, downhill skiing, horseback riding and fishing. His passion was hunting, especially once his grandsons Blaine and Tyler could join in the hunt.
He was a quiet, patient and gentle man whose greatest love was being a father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

We were saddened to learn of Abe’s passing from Christina Murray. He was an unassuming, caring, and gentle man. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do or wouldn’t tackle. Our thoughts are with you at this time.

To Joyce and family. We were so sad to hear the news from Granny. It has been wonderful to see you both occasionally since you moved and so glad that you have had the opportunity to enjoy some well earned retirement together. Abe truly was a man we will never forget.

My sympathy goes out to your whole family. I loved working with Abe; we had a lot of good chuckles and giggles. He was such a great person and always took time to catch up and ask how things were going when he was out and about. Memories are the things that will keep you going in the hard days. Sending hugs to you all. Trish

Joyce and the Girls. we wish to extend our thoughts to all of you
We remember Abe firstly as a young man carousing this
Testalinda neighbourhood as a young man with several others who have already gone before him. There will be a great reunion of sharing up there now. In later years he was a former neighbour on Road 18. There will be a great reunion of some of those excusions and hunting stories of earlier years up there now.
You are in our thoughts Joyce, remain strong. Memories are made
of this.
