Tribute

On Monday April 9, 2018, Mr. Alessio Dominic Torresan of Oliver, BC passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers.

Al is survived by his loving wife Maria, their children Toni (Brent), Christina (Richard), Laura, Bobby (Shelly), Shane, Sandra, and Linda (Todd); his grandchildren Matthew, Anthony, Taylor (Blair), Maklaine (Nate), Blane, Celeste, Blaire, and Corbyn; his brother Dominic (Louisa) and sister Alda (Gabriele), and his loving nieces and nephews.

Al made his way to Canada at a young age from the Veneto region of Italy. He came with nothing in his pockets but hopes and dreams for a better life.

Al was a determined, hardworking owner of Torresan Plumbing and Heating until he and Maria decided to fulfill their dreams in the Okanagan, where they enjoyed their life together on their vineyard. He was very proud that some of his grapes were used to make award-winning wines and humbled to have a wine named after him.

Al had many hobbies and interests that he was very passionate about. Besides wine-making, he loved birds, fishing, animals, and his beloved football team, Juventus. He enjoyed hanging out with his Oliver buddies, meeting for coffee, fishing trips, curling, and simply socializing.

Prayers will be held at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Burnaby, BC on Wednesday April 18 at 6:30 p.m. A funeral mass was previously held on Saturday April 14 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Oliver, BC.
