Alan Brodie
November 18, 1940 - January 28, 2018
Tribute
On Sunday, January 28, 2018, Mr. Alan (Al) George Brodie of Osoyoos passed away suddenly at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 77 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Jean and Wilfred Brodie as well as dear friend Maureen Higham.
Al will be fondly remembered by his loving family including wife of 32 years, Jeani Brodie; four daughters Erin Watkins (Randy), Sonja Cuthbert, Cami Cuthbert and Lara Brodie; dearly loved grandson Malcolm Cuthbert; step-mother Deborah Brodie; brother Norman Brodie (Lois); nephews David and Andrew Brodie; grand-niece Jessica; dear friends for 60+ years, Glen and Claudia Highman and Sandra, John and Kim Highman; sisters-in-law Maureen Walters and Sonja Hughson; nephew Patrick Hughson (Leah); niece Kelly Hertzog (Brett); niece Robyn Zimmer; great-grand nephews and nieces Ila, Cole, Makena, Christian and Orianna; our Osoyoos family Ron and Cid Doucette; best friends of the family for many, many years: Carol and Bent Nielsen as well as many cherished extended family and friends.
Over the years Al worked for WS Brodie & Son, Aurora Colour Lab and Royal City Taxi.
He loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Hawaii (all the islands), the Amazon, the Panama Canal, the South Seas to Tahiti, Bora Bora, Mexico and South America until his health slowed him down.
Al loved making friends wherever he went on his scooter when he went into town in Osoyoos. He enjoyed grocery shopping, going to Shoppers Drug Mart, the Credit Union or Home Hardware.
Al was a loving and generous husband, father who loved his grandson Mac Mac (Malcolm) so dearly. Whether he was buying special treats for the family or flowers as a surprise for Jeannette which he put in his scooter basket and brought home even when Jeani would say “no flowers today, thanks!” He was a loving, thoughtful and extremely kind man. There was nothing you could ask him to do that he wouldn’t do for everyone. When he got too sore and needed to rest, he loved reading, watching TV or movies. He enjoyed National Geographic and was a walking encyclopedia of miscellaneous facts. Always a very interesting person to talk to. We will miss him dearly. Safe travels on your journey. Until we meet again.
