Alan Cooper

September 5, 1924 - January 16, 2013

Alan died peacefully at age 88 in his home at McKinney Place, Oliver, BC with family by his side.

He is predeceased by Pat (nee Cochrane), his wife of 61 years, and his brothers, Ewart (Mack), and Ron.   He is lovingly remembered by his five children – daughters Carolyne Cooper, (Brian) Penticton; Janet Schwieger (Rob), Gray Creek, BC and Susan Lewis of Aurora, Ontario, and sons Stephen Cooper (Myrielle) of Whitehorse and Chris Cooper (Sally) of Gold River, BC.   Also by his seven grandchildren, Sarah and Mary Schwieger, Chantal Clarke (Chris), Daniel Cooper, Luke and Kaylah Lewis, and Ben Cooper.  Also remembered by his sister-in-law June Cooper of Leduc, Alberta and many nieces and nephews.

Following three years in the RCAF during WWII, he served as a social worker in Alberta and BC for nearly 30 years. He retired in the mid 1980’s to the south Okanagan – the land of fruit and sun.  He spent many happy years along Skaha Lake with his devoted wife, Pat.

Alan aspired to the tenets of Christian Science. He was a gentle soul and taught his children to look for the good in all things.

A celebration of his life will be held at #1, Lakeside Resort, in Oliver BC on Saturday, January 19 at 2 pm.   Friends and family are welcome.  (37005 – 81st St.)

To a very special Grandpa! Always very kind, gentle and caring. I always enjoyed listening to him play the harmonica during family sing-alongs. Thank you for your warmth and kindness. I will always remember it.
