Alexander Crawford

February 4, 1942 - December 29, 2021

Tribute

Alex, 79, passed away peacefully at his home after suffering many years with Parkinson’s.

Born in Paisley, Scotland, he is predeceased by his mother, Agnes Laird (McNee) Crawford;  his father, James Crawford;  his sister, Agnes MacQuarrie;  and his brother-in law, Rae Macquarrie.

He leaves behind, Jeanne, his wife of 46 years;  his daughter, Natalie (Geoffry), in Seattle;  and his two nephews from Scotland, Iain and Alan (Sam).

His career began in the British Merchant Marine as marine engineer.  In 1974 he came to Canada working for Halco in Montreal and then Rivtow in Vancouver.  He resided in Victoria with Jeanne and moved to Oliver in 1983 where they had their dream home built in the hills.

Alex was a loving husband and an amazing father, a devoted family man.  Home life meant more to him than anything else.  He enjoyed the wilderness as well as a good book.

A very generous, honest, thoughtful, kind man, he had a good sense of humor and a positive attitude.

He will be greatly missed.

It is with great sadness that Virginia and I have learned of Alex’s passing. Although the building of your home happened decades ago, I will always remember Alex as a very kind and patient man, and also a man who dearly loved his wife. Jeanne, may the coming days bring you and your daughter peace and a flood of fond memories.
Sincerely,
Dave and Virginia Durocher
