Alfred (AJ) Horkoff

Tribute
On Friday December 26, 2014, Mr. Alfred James Horkoff of Oliver passed away at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 58 years.
He was predeceased by his husband Rob Moores; parents Peter & Pauline; brother Pete Horkoff; several aunts, uncles and his grandparents.
Alfred will be fondly remembered by his loving family including brothers-in-law Sean Moores & Josue Martinez Lara; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; sister Anne (John) Kiss; sister-in-law Eileen; brother Alec; father and mother-in-law Pat Moores & Linda Costain and his beloved cat Keisha.
Alfred spent ten years working in the banking industry and transferred to many towns in BC and Alberta. He worked for an airline for ten years which enabled him to travel to many destinations including across North America, Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean, Great Britain, Western Europe, Hong Kong and Southern China. Alfred also worked in a group home as a care aide for the elderly and mentally challenged which was a very rewarding experience.
Alfred also spent many years researching his Doukhobor heritage and was a cat lover from the very beginning and always had one or two cats all his life.
Donations are gratefully accepted for the BCSPCA.
A graveside urn interment and committal will be held at a later date.

Heartfelt condolences to AJ’s family and friends. I did not have the opportunity to meet AJ in person but did get to know him well through emails and chatting online. He was a man with a deep appreciation for life and I know that he loved his family both near and far.
