Alice Code

September 13, 1928 - September 7, 2013

Tribute

In the early hours of Saturday, Sept. 7th, 2013, Alice passed away peacefully with her family, friends and the staff of McKinney place at her side. She had lived determinedly with Parkinson’s disease for the past 15 years.

She is survived and missed by Trevor, her loving husband of 62 years, her daughter Darlene Samin (Jeff) of Kelowna, son Kent Code (Jody) of Saskatoon, her grand children Alissa Maillet (Steve), Jennifer Burke (Randall), Lauren and Erin Code. She was fortunate to have two great grandchildren, Saskia and Payton.

Her two sisters, Dorothy Pewtress of Calgary, Margaret Hay of Lloydminster and her sister in law, Nyra Stangland of Penticton, also survive her.

Born in Marsden, Saskatchewan on September 13, 1928 to George and Clara Hiar, Alice was raised on a farm with her two sisters and her brother, Melvin, now deceased. She met and married Trevor in Kindersley, Saskatchewan and they lived in Coleville, Rosetown, North Battleford, Swift Current and Winnipeg before retiring to Lloydminster, then Oliver in 2004.

Alice was a loving wife and mother. She was an incredible seamstress and had a marvelous artistic side. Her love for flowers and her talent for floral design created many beautiful arrangements. She worked for a time in a flower shop in Winnipeg and also in fabric stores in North Battleford and Swift Current.

She was impeccable in her appearance and she and Trevor maintained a loving, caring home and garden everywhere they lived. They travelled to Arizona for many winters and spent time exploring Canada and the US in their fifth wheel.

Over the years Alice belonged to many organizations but her commitment to her church wherever she lived and her association with Eastern Star were her strongest passions. She also had the pleasure of many wonderful friendships in her lifetime.

A scattering ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 13th at 1:30 pm at the Oliver Cemetery. All are welcome to attend.

Should family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Society British Columbia, 890 West Pender Street #600, Vancouver, BC V6C 1J9 or a charity of your choice.
