Tribute

Alison Paige Quinn
May 17, 1981 – January 20, 2025

Alison (Magnus) Quinn passed away at home in the arms of her husband in the early morning hours of January 20th. Her death came after a long battle with Huntington’s Disease, a slow-moving thief of an illness that failed to steal Alison’s radiant smile until the end.

Alison and her older sister were both adopted at birth and raised by wonderful parents in Oliver, BC on a 10-acre orchard. Ali grew up enjoying Okanagan summers in a backyard pool and road trips to the U.S.A. Instantly identifiable by her bright red hair, she had the colourful personality to match her hair. She played the piano and trained and competed as a classical vocalist. After graduating from Southern Okanagan Secondary in 1999, Ali worked as a barista and server in Penticton. She met her future husband at a church conference in Kelowna and fell in love. Ali married Richard in 2003, and lived in Nelson, BC for a short time before moving to Stony Plain, Alberta, closer to Richard’s family, and then to Spruce Grove. Their son, Connor, came along in February 2006, and completed their little family. Ali loved music, spending time with family, watching funny movies and hunting for Value Village treasures with her mom. Ali’s faith in Jesus was the most important thing in her life, and helped her endure terrible circumstances with strength, peace and joy. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

Alison is survived by her husband of 22 years, Richard Quinn, her son, Connor Quinn, her mother, Dedie Magnus, her sister, Lesley Noftle (Jordan), and her nieces Kate, Audrey and Bridget. Her father, Vic Magnus, passed away in 2019.

My condolences to Richard, Connor, Pattie, Norm & families. I remember Alison as the day we met her 17 years ago at a backyard BBQ. A young mom and wife, full of a spit fire take on life. I hope she is at peace now.

I met Alison as a teenager, full of sass and joie de vie. As a close friend of her sister, I witnessed her growth into a beautiful, strong, grounded and loving person and mother.
I am saddened to hear we are one less bright spark in the world, but glad her suffering has ended.
Condolences to Richard and Conner (we’ve only met once but you’re both in my thoughts).
Lots of love to Lesley and Dedie.
