Tribute

On Sunday, December 10, 2017, Ana (Anita) Branco Craveiro Tomé of Oliver, BC passed away at Sunnybank Residential Facility at the age 88½ years.

Ana (Anita) is survived by her 3 loving daughters:  Maria Alice Ferreira, Carmen Tome and Elizabeth Tome Vokey.  Son in laws: John Ferreira and Nelson Vokey and 5 grandchildren: Christina Ferreira, Nicole Ferreira, Michael Ferreira, Megan Vokey, Camelia Vokey and her great grand-daughter Maya Ferreira Evangelou.

Ana (Anita) was predeceased by her loving husband Antonio Braz Tome whom she was married to for 61 years.  Ana (Anita) was the 7^th child in a family of 8 siblings.  Ana (Anita) was predeceased by her brothers:  Antonio Rodrigues Branco, José Rodrigues Branco, Joaquim Branco, Alfredo Rodrigues Branco and sisters: Maria José Craveiro Branco, Idalina Craveiro Branco who were all living in Portugal.  Ana (Anita) is survived by her sister Aurora de Jesus Craveiro Branco Gordo living in Oliver.

Ana (Anita) Branco Craveiro Tomé grew up in Casegas, Portugal.  As a business woman, Anita and Antonio owned and operated a 24 bed motel and restaurant business in Fundao, Portugal.  1957 they moved to Lisbon where she was a seamstress and worked from home raising her 2 daughters Maria Alice and Carmen.  Anita, with her husband Antonio and 2 children immigrated to Canada on July 4^th 1964 when they arrived in Oliver.  In 1966 she birthed her 3^rd child Elizabeth.

Anita and Antonio owned an orchard and was also employed by South Okanagan Co-operative Association Packing House in Oliver for approximately 20 years.

Anita was a very social woman always enjoying the company of others.  Along with her husband Antonio she was quite involved with The Okanagan Portuguese Club, Our Lady of Fatima Commission and most recently she enjoyed all the activities held at the Sunnybank Residential Facility in Oliver where she resided for the last 2 years.

She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and socializing with friends and playing various games.  Anita was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many.  She will be truly missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to attend Thursday December 21, 7:00pm for prayers and Funeral Service Friday, December 22, 11:00am.  Both held at Christ The King Church in Oliver.  Interment and committal will follow at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery with a reception after the committal at Christ The King Church Hall.
