Tribute
On Wednesday October 16, 2013, Ana Golobic of Osoyoos passed away after a long illness at the South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver. She was 85 years old.
She was predeceased by her brothers Frank, Alojz, Jože and her older sister Marija, who was a Sister of Mercy in Slovenia.
Ana will be fondly remembered by her loving husband Tony of sixty-one years, her children Silva (Joe) and Marjan, grandchildren Theresa, Paul, Peter, Maia and Adrian, great-grandson Maks and many other family and friends.
Ana was born in Slovenia and came to Canada in 1969. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved to be with people and always busied herself with gardening, cooking and baking, needlepoint and other crafts. She especially liked to welcome friends into her home and was happiest when she could serve them her legendary strudel and “potica”.
In later years, despite enduring a long-standing illness, she still devoted a lot of her time to all of these activities as well as knitting sweaters for charity.
Prayers will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Monday October 21, 2013 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church and a funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Rex Velmonte at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday October 22, 2013 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Osoyoos. Interment and committal took place at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery followed by a reception in the church lower hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to South Okanagan General Hospital, 911 McKinney Road, Oliver, BC V0H 1T3.
