Ann Marie Smith

March 5, 1957 - July 23, 2026

Tribute

It is with profound sadness that the family of Anna Marie Smith wish to announce her sudden passing on July 23, 2026, in Osoyoos, BC.  Born March 5, 1957, in Fredericton, NB, Ann Marie was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Totten) Smith.

She is survived by her son Michael Kenney (Melissa) of Osoyoos, BC, daughters Alicia Keays (Jason) of Fredericton, NB and Sara Stoddard (Kyle) of Quispamsis, NB, sisters Linda (Brian) Bunner of Ottawa, Pat Neilson of Swan Creek, brothers Andrew (Aline) of Moncton, Jeffrey of Fredericton, and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brothers Roland “Rollie” Smith, David “Glayne” Smith, sister Phyllis Lawrence, and her baby girls Samantha and Melissa.

Her greatest joy in life were her grandchildren Alex, Benjamin, Gabriella, and Arya.

Ann Marie’s children were blessed for the many years that she spent as a stay at home mom.  Once she joined the workforce her career took her through different positions, but she found her true passion when she became a school bus driver for District 17 (Anglophone West School District) in Jemseg, NB.  Her excitement seeing the kids every day and listening intently to their stories was only surpassed by celebrating the holidays by decorating her bus and handing out treats to all her students.

She was an amazing cook and loved spending time with friends and family around the dining room table, whether over a good meal or a cup of tea.  After retirement, she moved to British Columbia to live with her son and his family.  She enjoyed her final years spending time with family, gardening, and doting on her beloved dogs Rudy and Tess.

Ann Marie is currently resting at Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Home in Oliver, BC.  Upon cremation her family will bring her “home” to her final resting place in Marysville, NB.  A funeral service with a reception to follow will be held in Fredericton, NB at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road on Saturday August 22, 2026 at 1:00pm.
