Anna Violet Charlton (Wellman)
February 23, 1940 - January 13, 2026
Tribute
Anna Violet Charlton, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, at Mariposa Gardens in Osoyoos, British Columbia.
Born on February 23, 1940, in Oliver, B.C., Anna grew up on an orchard in Osoyoos, where she developed a lifelong love for hard work, the land, and animals. She worked at the Osoyoos packing house and later at the Rialto Hotel, always known for her strong work ethic and dependable nature.
Anna married Ron Charlton on September 6, 1961, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Together they embraced the farm and homesteader lifestyle, which Anna truly enjoyed.
She was predeceased by her husband Ron; her parents, Lydia and Emil Wellman, and her sisters Gertrude and Sandra. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Eda; her daughters Cindy Crusch and Barb Charlton; her grandchildren Sarah Forest (Brad), Justin Winstanley (Vanessa), Becky Lindquist (Wilf), Alicia Zelmer (Jeff), and Craig Kitchen (Morgan); and her great-grandchildren, Braden Thornton, Nate Thornton-Winstanley, Tyler Forest, Cianna Lindquist, Corbin and Maelyn Kitchen. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Stan Charlton, along with many nieces and nephews.
Anna had a deep love of animals, especially horses, with her horse, Copper Sioux, holding a special place in her heart. Her true passion was riding on the range. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed knitting, playing cribbage, reading Louis L’Amour books, watching travel shows, and taking road trips. Camping, fishing, and especially spoiling her great-grandchildren brought her immense happiness.
Anna was a lifelong member of the Rock Creek Fall Fair and was the pickle judge for many years, contributing her time and knowledge to the community she loved.
A Memorial will be held at a later date.
