Tribute

Our dear Mamma and Nonna, Maria Parolin (née Casalis) was granted her angel wings on November 24th, 2023, after enduring a lengthy illness.

Maria immigrated to Canada from Torino, Italy in 1966 with her husband and children.

She worked as a waitress at the Woodward’s restaurant in New Westminster for many years and was very well-liked by all her customers and co-workers.

She raised two amazing sons and was a faithful and devoted wife to her husband for over 60 years.

In 1993 she moved to Oliver to enjoy a more relaxed Okanagan lifestyle.

Maria’s wonderful hospitality and her fun-loving and positive demeanour was cherished by all who knew her. She was an excellent cook and she loved to host get-togethers at her home. She enjoyed card games and spending time with her many friends.

She had a brilliant smile, infectious laughter and a great sense of humour. She loved dancing, flowers, animals, chocolate, jokes, and beautiful pastel colours, especially lilac. She knew how to sit back and de-stress, just by observing the world and life happening around her.

She loved Nutella (straight out of the jar!), Saltines with butter, and of course a good cup of espresso.

The radio was always on in her kitchen as she loved music. One of her favourite songs was “Patricia” by Pérez Prado. It always got her humming and in a good mood! She truly was a caretaker, a loving grandma and a mother, and all she ever wanted was that everyone around her would be happy and content. She loved everybody.

Maria was predeceased by her husband Lorenzo.

She is survived by sons Daniele and Ken, daughter-in-law Sheryl and grandchildren Kaija, William, Wesley and Sammie.
