Tribute
Anton (Tony) Golobic of Osoyoos passed away peacefully on May 1, 2014, after a short stay in the South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver. He was 90 years old.
Predeceased by his wife Ana; brothers John, Matt, Jože, Franc and sister Agnes and seven more siblings who passed away in their youth, Tony will be fondly remembered by his loving family including daughter Silva (Joe) and son Marjan; grandchildren Theresa, Paul, Peter, Maia and Adrian, four great-grandchildren, relatives in Slovenia and many other family and friends.
Tony arrived in Canada in 1969 and worked in the Oliver-Osoyoos Packinghouse until his retirement in 1989. He was above all a family man who also enjoyed the company of his friends especially when he could share some of his home-made wine. Gardening and tending the grapes were part of the simple lifestyle he enjoyed with his wife Ana of 61 years until her passing in October of 2013.
Prayers will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Friday May 16, 2014 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Neil Lustado at 11:00 A.M. Saturday May 17, 2014. Interment and committal will follow at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery. A reception hosted by the CWL in the church lower hall will follow the committal.
In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted by the South Okanagan General Hospital, 911 McKinney Road, Oliver, BC V0H 1T3.
