Antonio (Tony) Avila

August 11, 1930 - November 10, 2021

Tribute

On November 10, 2021, Tony Avila, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 91 years.

Tony was born in Castelo Branco, Faial, Azores and will be forever remembered by his wife of 67 years, Hortense; children, Tony (Joan), Maria (Robert) Wilde, Mario (Montserrat), Luis (Judy), and Paul; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and brother, Gregory. He was predeceased by his parents, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

The two most important things in Dad’s life were his family and his church. The basis of family is easily recognizable when you look at the families of each of his children. Love grows there. Dads’ devotion to prayer and service was evident within the ‘Christ the King’ community in Oliver. “I’m heading over to the church for awhile” where words heard on a daily basis. His positive impact, caring, and sense of humour will be remembered by all who knew him.

We love you Dad. Pray for us.

A private Funeral Mass will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday, November 27, 2021, with Fr. Thomas Kakkaniyil officiating. To watch the live stream of the Mass, please click on the live service button on Tony’s condolence page on www.nunes-pottinger.com at 11:00 am Saturday November 27, 2021.  Interment will follow in the Oliver Municipal Cemetery.

Donation are graciously accepted to a charity of one’s choice.
