Antonio (Tony) Moreira

December 24, 1954 - May 8, 2025

Tribute

On Thursday May 8, 2025, Mr. Antonio (Tony) Bairos Moreira of Osoyoos passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the South Okanagan General Hospital after a short battle with cancer at the age of 70 years.

He was predeceased by parents, Maria and Antonio Moreira; brother, Joe Moreira; son, Shawn Moreira; son-in-law, Shawn Carrigan; nephews, Derek Moreira and Jamie Moreira and in-laws, Norm and Leona Dunnigan.

Tony will be fondly remembered by his loving family including wife, Susan Moreira; daughter, Stacie (Mark) Carrigan-Smith; daughter, Amanda (David) Stene; grandsons, Jared and Troy Stene; brother, Dennis (Bev) Moreira; sisters, Cidalia (Eddie) Plavetic and Lidia (Jess) Ferreira; sister-in-law, Lucy Moreira; nieces and nephews, Jason Moreira, Jackie (Jamie) Mullen, Robbie (Christa) Moreira, Michael Moreira, Michael (Kathy) Plavetic, Dawn-Marie (Jason) Burrows, Melissa (Chris) Carvalho and Justin (Renee) Ferreira as well as many great-nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Tony enjoyed a long and successful career of forty-four years at Monashee Co-op/ BC Tree Fruits.

He enjoyed trips over the years including his honeymoon in Hawaii and a family trip to Mexico for his 70th birthday but preferred to stay more local and go camping. Highlights were an Alaskan cruise and fishing in Juneau, Alaska.

Tony also enjoyed making recycle tool metal art, hunting, fishing, camping with friends and family, watching his grandsons play hockey and he took great pride in his garden and yard.

A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Peter Tompkins at 10:30 am, Friday May 16, 2025 at St. Anne Catholic Church followed by interment and committal at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery. A reception in the church lower hall will follow the committal.

The cross fence talks with Tony were something I always looked forward to on my trips to Osoyoos. We never failed to catch up for 30 minutes or so. Tony was kind, thoughtful, and just truly a gentleman.
