Tribute

Arnie Ziegler
Nov 28, 1946 – June 20, 2010
Age 63
Arnie entered into the presence of the Lord after a short, hard-fought battle with a respiratory ailment, surrounded by his wife, children and grand-children.
Arnie is survived by Ellen, his loving wife of 38 years; his daughter, Karen, her husband Garrett and their children Ezekiel and Olive; his son David and his wife Lyndsay; his sisters Dianna, Karo-Lee and Darlene and his brothers Dan and Gary and all his nieces and nephews.
Arnie proudly served various communities in BC and the Northwest Territories as an RCMP officer, retiring as a Sergeant in the Oliver detachment in 1999 after 32 years of service. He later worked for the BC Coroner Service for a number of years before retiring completely in 2007.
Known for his sense of humour and fun-loving spirit, Arnie could be found wherever there was laughter. Arnie was an artist, avid golfer, curler and sports fan. He loved the outdoors, camping with his family, fishing with his friends and cowboying.
Arnie loved the Lord, his family and his friends. He is well loved.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday June 25, 2010 at the Oliver Alliance Church with Pastor Jeremy Cook officiating.
In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that donations be sent to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation in Arnie’s name.

Relation: Art student

As I’d never met his beloved Family, the message from his Son today said everything about him that had been transmitted to us in his Art Classes at the Quail’s Nest. A true gentleman.A Family man, Brilliant Artist & Instructor. His encouragement inspired me to do so much better & this year I taught a similar class..using many of his inspiring words. (Draw what you see. Not what you think you see!, he’d said.) I’ve even sold 2 Ink drawings that never could have happened without his instruction. As I’m moving away soon, I’d meant to call & buy some of his Art. Too bad I procrastinated..
To his entire Family, My heartfelt Condolences. Yours truly, Val.

Ellen, so sorry to hear about your loss. Arnie’s smiling face will be dearly missed in the dental practice.Always enjoyed catching up and hearing about his adventures.

From: Lou Sloboda
Relation: friend

Ellen I am so sorry to hear that Arnie has passed. We had many talks while he was in hospital and when I heard that he lost the battle, all I could think of was what a terrible terrible loss. I was coming back to take him for a ride in my mustang Sally, remember? Kindly extend my deepest sympathy to your children and grandchildren. Know you are both in my thoughts.

From: The Bouchards
Relation: friends/neighbors

Arnie, we’re gonna miss your quick wit, your razor sharp analysis, your pragmatic judgment, and above all your humility and honesty. Oliver has been a very fortunate community and been lucky you made it your “home”. We can’t thank you in person, but I know you’re still watching over us from your “new” golf course above the town. To Ellen and Family, our sincere and heartfelt condolences. Peace… The Bouchards (and Lizzie, too)
