Arthur Hamilton

May 6, 1933 - October 8, 2014

Tribute

On Wednesday October 8, 2014, Mr. Arthur Leslie Hamilton of Osoyoos passed away at Mariposa Gardens after a long illness at the age of 81 years.

He was predeceased by his father Edward Hamilton and his mother Isabel (Haan) Hamilton.

Art will be fondly remembered by his loving family including wife Joan (nee Doyle) Hamilton; children Michael (Crystal) Hamilton; daughter Laurie (James) Standlee; grandchildren Jennifer, Jeffry, Michelle, Erik and Jacob; great-grandchildren Melody and Michael as well as brother Michael (Karen) Hamilton.

Art was a Korean War Veteran from December 1950 – April, 1953, serving proudly with the US Army. He spent his career working as a Civil Engineer working in Pierce County, WA.

Art loved to travel and went to Cuba three times, Inner Mongolia, China, Columbia, South America, every province in Canada and all 50 states in the US. He wintered in Mexico where he visited every state there.

Art was also generous with his time and volunteered as a lector at St. Anne’s Catholic Church for many years, with the Knights of Columbus, the National Railway Historical Society, the Nevada Northern Railway Museum, The Edmonton Radial Railway Society, the Puget Sound Railroad Historical Association and Club Amigos del Ferrocarril in Guadalajara.

He was an avid train buff, model railroader; and was very interested in steam locomotive preservation and operation.

Prayers were recited at 7:30 P.M. Friday October 10th at St. Anne’s Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr. Dave DeSouza at 10:30 A.M. Saturday October 11, 2014 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church followed by a reception hosted by the CWL.

Donations are gratefully accepted for the St. Vincent de Paul Society or a charity of choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mariposa Gardens, Fr. Rex, Fr. Neil and Fr. Dave. Also a big thank you to the CWL for the luncheon and Janet Marcotte for the music ministry.
