Aubrey Trefry

June 16, 1920 - March 7, 2011

Tribute

Born in Vancouver, B.C., Aubrey resided in Marpole, B.C. until he left for England to serve his country during World War II. He met, fell in love with, married and started a family there with Dorothy, his lovely bride. After convincing Dorothy to move with him to Canada, Aubrey returned to the Lower Mainland. He worked in the Sawmill industry, and was certain he had driven every road in the province of B.C. as a representative of C.A.E. Machinery. During this time he instilled a great love for the province and the wildlife within to his two sons. He supported their interests, particularly in their pursuit of falconry.
He was inventive in his career, and worked hard to make the chipping end of this business more efficient. After he left his company, he was much in demand as a private consultant to a large number of Sawmills.
After Dorothy passed, tragically early, Aubrey eventually found love again with Grace, who he married and discovered the joy of dance with. They loved square and round dancing, and once again, Aubrey was driving the roads of B.C., this time in pursuit of a hobby instead of work. They retired to Osoyoos where they enjoyed the climate and many dancing opportunities. Aubrey, a lifelong gardener, took full advantage of the wonderful gardening weather in Osoyoos, and could most often be found puttering outside, watching the local wildlife and beautifying the yard.
It was Osoyoos where Grace passed, and where Aubrey still lived at the end of his life.
Aubrey leaves his sons, Philip and wife Helen (Tofield, Alberta) and their daughters, Sarah (Fredericton, New Brunswick) and Amy, (Edmonton, Alberta) and Colin and his wife Sharon (Wycliffe, B.C.) Trefry, to remember him.
The family thanks the staff of Mariposa Village for caring for Aubrey these past two years. We will always be grateful to you.
There will be a family memorial at a later date.
