Beverley Ann Doreen Fryer (Persons)

March 30, 1940 - March 11, 2026

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my wife, Beverley Ann Doreen Fryer, nee Persons, on March 11, 2026, at the age of 85, at her winter residence in Osoyoos, BC.

She is survived by her husband Bill, her children Jeffrey William (Faye) and Tracy Ann (Michael), her sister Marilyn Eleanor James, her sister-in-law Mary, her grandchildren Brett and Arryn Jones and Sophia Fryer, as well as many nieces and nephews in BC, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.
Bev was predeceased by her son Michael Joshua, her sister Gail Edwina and her brother-in-law George.

Bev was born in the General Hospital (BMPH) in Sweetsburg, PQ, to Edwin (Eddie) James Persons and Doreen Nettie (Patch) Persons. She went to Cowansville High School (Hero’s Memorial) in the 1940’s and 50’s, where she met William (Bill) Fryer. They were married on April 8th, 1961, at Christ Church, the Anglican Church, in Sweetsburg by Rev. John Peacock and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2025.

She lived in the province of Quebec for 33 years in the village of Sweetsburg, the town of Cowansville and Bolton Glen. After marriage, she continued to work at E.J. Persons Transport Ltd. and later managed Eddie’s Diner in West Brome. She then moved on to something bigger and managed the Glen Mountain Ski Shop and operated the Glen Mountain Ski Area Motel and Cafeteria/Restaurant.

In 1973, Bev and Bill sold their house, packed up the kids and moved out west to BC in a Winnebago, buying a house in Colwood (Victoria), BC. In 1989, they sold their home in Colwood and moved to a new home in Broadmead, Sannich, BC. When Bill retired ten years later, in 1999, they sold their house again, purchased another Winnebago and set off to travel across Canada from BC to PEI. They came back and bought another home in Cobble Hill, BC, but Bev and Bill were full-time RVers at this point and eventually ended up in Osooyoos, BC.

Bev was very active volunteering for the Victoria Curling Club, helping to raise money for both Junior Curlers and the Victoria Curling Club Building Improvement by holding craft fairs. She also raised money with the ladies by helping to design and print a recipe book of some of the Club’s favourite recipes.
Bev and Bill also attended many Scotties and Briers across Canada, where she became an avid pin collector and trader.

In Osoyoos, at the Nk’MiP Campground Resort, she became well known for her homemade jams, pickles, cookies, Christmas cakes, and dog treats, which many campers looked forward to receiving every season.

Bev loved kids and enjoyed spending time with them, so her latest idea was to buy and restore old Barbie dolls. She even went so far as to create patterns and make new clothes for them. This past summer, she spent many hours with the young kids in the campground who were very interested in all her fun Barbie items!

Bev will be dearly missed this camping season for her generous, outgoing, and loving nature, but her memory will live on in the hearts of many forever.

Rest in peace, Bev, and God bless.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you consider donating in Bev’s name to the charity of your choice.
