Bill Greschner

January 6, 1940 - November 13, 2014

Tribute

Bill passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, November 13 at South Okanagan General Hospital. He was predeceased by his father George Greschner, his mother Wilma Greschner, and his sisters Annie Motz, Mary Evens and Hilda DuMont. Also predeceased by his bothers in law Ted DuMont and Clark Evans.

Bill will be fondly remembered by both his brother Johnny Greschner (Betty) and sister Sally Roberts (Gerry) as well as his 14 nieces and nephews and their children.

Born in Loon Lake, Sask. he moved with the family to Bridseville in 1944. He grew up there and stayed on the family farm, ranching with his parents and operating a small saw mill during the winters with his brother Johnny. It was in the Boundary Country where Bill's love of square dancing began.

In 1980 he moved to Osoyoos where he worked for small businesses, including Decor Furniture, the Oliver Feedlot and helping some local stores. He also worked for some orchardists and farmers. In Osoyoos, Bill continued his square dancing and joined The Knights of Columbus. Bill loved living in Osoyoos where he frequented most of the coffee shops, restaurants and all of the Keno counters. He took great pleasure in chatting with the locals and the snowbirds alike. You could always count on a big smile and maybe even a wisecrack or two from Bill. He will be missed by many.

The family would like to thank Dr. Calder and his staff for the kind and compassionate care of Bill and the nurses at the health unit for their sensitive and practical help.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a cancer society of your choosing.

A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Dave DeSouza at 10:30 A.M. Saturday November 29, 2014 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Interment and committal will follow at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery. A reception hosted by the CWL will follow in the church lower hall.

Bill was one of the happiest, most friendly and kind individuals I have had the fortune of crossing paths with. His lovely smile, and his quick wit would brighten your day. He is thankfully at peace. I was the former office manager where he lived and he always made you have a giggle and a smile. Good memories. Judy Dallas

Relation: Friend

I first met Bill when I worked in a coffee shop where he frequently visited daily. Bill is one of the kindest men I have ever met, loved his smile and his sense of humor. You would always see him walking on the streets when he wasn’t in coffee shops or at keno counters, just to know that he will no longer be walking them saddens my heart. I will miss you Bill, may you rest in peace my friend. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time. We have lost a real gem but he will never be forgotten.
