On Tuesday December 24, 2013, Mr. Robert King (Bob) Crockford of Oliver passed away peacefully at Sunnybank Centre at the age of 96 years. He was predeceased by his wife Irene on December 30, 2010. Memorial service will be held in April 2014. Full obituary and service details will be posted soon.

Relation: I interviewed Mr. Crockford
When I met MR. Crockford was rather shy at first to tell me the story of his life, but when he spoke of his wife, who passed away about ten years ago – his face lit up and the conversation was rolling. During a separation in WW2 Mr CRockford wote to his beloved wife frequently. He kindly allowed me to read some of these letter. The strength, hope and joy shared by this couple will be something I never forget. It was a pleasure to know Bob Crockford , albeit too briefly.

My sincere condolences on your loss. As a regular visitor to Sunnybank I talked with Bob whenever possible at afternoon coffee time. Bob was happy to tell me about his youth in England, his military service in Africa, andwork with Woodward’s and visits to the ranch. However, Bob went beyond this and was keen to ask about me, our horses and life in general. One day he said, “Well, I’ve made 95, may as well try for 100.” It is our loss that this was not to be.
