Brennan Elliot Eby

February 24, 1984 - August 24, 2023

Tribute

With sadness, we announce Brennan Eby’s untimely passing just shy of his 40th birthday. Though his time with us was cut short, we are choosing to celebrate what was — and not regret what could have been.

Born and raised in Oliver, Brennan was a beautiful and kind-hearted soul who touched many in our small town.

His first job outside of the family business at OK Photo was at Rotheisler Equipment, as the “shop kid.” Goal-oriented at a very young age, he also worked at the Oliver Chronicle, Karow Farms, Oliver Tourism Association and Road 13 Winery.

He carried that ambition into adulthood. After completing his Red Seal electrician certification, Brennan worked in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and various US states before settling in Huntington Beach, California. Here he found his close-knit work family with Rising Edge Group.

While Brennan’s generous spirit and zest for life touched all who knew him, a special place in his heart was reserved for his niece Annika, who represented a renewed sense of purpose and responsibility for him. He took this seriously and it gave him a reason to surprise her with living gifts – first, it was a puppy. His sister Stephanie had feared that a pony was going to show up at their doorstep next.

Brennan is predeceased by grandmother Donna Mann, grandfather David Eby, and cousin Cassandra Mann. He is survived by his pup Syrah, parents (Paul and Barbara Eby), grandparents (Philip and Eleanor Smith; Kathleen Eby), sister (Stephanie Eby), niece (Annika Eby), aunts and uncles (Joan and Leonel St. Amand; James and Shirley Smith; Kathleen Smith and Chris Gutsche; David Mann and Lisa Van Colen; Doug and Cathy Mann; Brad and Pat Eby; Alan and Gwen Eby; and Peter Eby), half-brother (Keith Nelson), and numerous cousins in Canada and the U.S. We will remember him as a loving dog-dad, son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and most of all, friend.

In Brennan’s memory, we ask that you celebrate his life by taking your dog for a walk, blasting your music a little too loud once in a while, or going boating with friends in the Okanagan. And if you are a single young lady, make it a point to chat with the next single guy walking a pup all by his lonesome – you’d be making his day.

A celebration of Brennan’s life will be held at the Oliver Community Centre on September 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm.

To Brennan’s family, we are so sorry for your loss. Brennan was such a unique and special person and he will be missed so much.
My husband, Sean, and Brennan met in trade school in Kelowna and quickly became good friends. Brennan was one of the smartest people that I’ve ever met; he would get straight A’s in trade school while barely needing to open a book. He was also one of the most loving people; he was kind to everyone no matter who they were. I always thought that his puppy was the luckiest dog to have Brennan as an owner because he had so much love to give! We will miss Brennan so much and remember him always as the loving, kind, smart, funny person that he was.
Rest in peace Brennan, we love you.

Barb and Paul, I’m so sorry to hear of Brendan’s passing. My thoughts are with all of you and I’m sending you all of my love.
