Tribute
On Tuesday, February 12, 2019, Mrs. Maria do Carmo (Carmen) Calado of Oliver passed away at the South Okanagan General Hospital after a short battle with cancer, with her husband by her side at the age of 66 years.
She was predeceased by her parents Luis Barata and Gloria Bras and brothers Alfredo and Jose (Joe) Barata.
Carmen will be fondly remembered by her loving family including husband Blair; children Sylvia, Nancy and Nelson; grandchildren Emily, Clara, Lauren, Myra, Rosetta and Thomas; sister Adelia as well as many extended family and friends.
Carmen enjoyed her many trips to Relvas and the Algarve in Portugal to visit family and friends, gardening, visiting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was a folklore dancer and member of the Oliver Portuguese Multicultural Society and a member of the Catholic Church.
Prayers will be recited at 7:00 pm, Monday, February 18, 2019 at Christ the King Catholic Church.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Christ the King Catholic Church followed by interment and committal at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery. A reception in the church lower hall will follow the committal.
Donations are gratefully accepted for the SOGH Palliative Care Program, 911 McKinney Road, Oliver, BC V0H 1T0.
