Cecelia Patricia Chyzzy

August 1, 1940 - June 10, 2023

Tribute

Cecelia Patricia Chyzzy of Oliver, B.C. passed peacefully on June 10, 2023, surrounded by immediate family at the age of 82.

Cecelia was the daughter of John and Minnie Kubas, born August 1st, 1940 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Predeceased by her six siblings; Anne, Mike, Myrslaw, Peter, Mary, and Allan. Cecelia was raised in Manitoba until she met her beloved husband Edward Adam Chyzzy. They were wed on November 14th, 1959 in Sylvan, Manitoba, and have celebrated 63 years of marriage together. They moved to Surrey, British Columbia around 1966 where they raised their two boys; Darren Ross Chyzzy and Grant Edward Chyzzy. Cecelia was an active member in the community helping with her son’s school field trips and Boy Scouts. Her children and grandchildren remember her as a strong, hardworking woman that was the essential glue to their family. Baba had a very successful career as a baker at Kwantlen College. She was best known for her famous cinnamon buns, which were sent all the way to China. She also had a love of gardening and cooking. Baba hosted many family dinners and you never left her home with an empty stomach. Family was the most important aspect of Baba’s life and she will be so deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of having her a part of their life. We will continue to remember her by making her famous recipes, even though they will never quite taste like Baba’s.

Baba and Papa spent a lot of their summers enjoying the Okanagan sun at their permanent campsite at Shady Lagoon, Osoyoos, B.C. Baba always looked forward to her time spent in the sun. Baba also loved travelling with her family to Cancun, Mexico and Las Vegas.

Cecelia is survived by her husband Edward Chyzzy (88), her two sons Darren (Daniela) Chyzzy & Grant Chyzzy, grandchildren; Jessica Chyzzy (Dakota Angel), Amanda Paradis (Tim Paradis), Rayleen Chyzzy, Tyler Chyzzy, and Miranda Chyzzy, and great-grandchildren; Hero Angel, Silver Angel, Locklyn Paradis, and Lennon Paradis.

The family of Cecelia would like to send their sincere thanks to the Moog & Friends Hospice House in Penticton British Columbia for their excellent care. Cecelia and her family couldn’t have been better supported by the nurses and physicians during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Cecelia’s name to Moog & Friends Hospice House at https://www.pentictonhospice.com/donate/ to support future families seeking end-of-life care or to The Canadian Cancer Society at https://cancer.ca/en/ways-to-give/personal-donation
