Tribute

Conceição (Connie) Pimentel passed away surrounded by her loved ones on June 7, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Connie was predeceased by her parents: Jose Sousa Pimentel (1979) and Ines Cruz Pimentel (1989). She is survived by her siblings: Adelaide Pimentel, Gilberta Pimentel, Madalena Trovao (Jose), Teresa Farinha (Jose), Luis Pimentel, Olga Woodland; her nieces: Margie and Susan Trovao, Lisa Farinha (Chris Parker), Jennifer and Jessica Farinha, Amanda Woodland; her great-nephews and great-niece: Joel, Adam, and Emma Parker; as well as numerous extended family members in Portugal, the United States, and Canada.

Connie was born in Furnas, São Miguel, Açores on April 1, 1945. She immigrated to Canada with her family in January of 1966, settling in Osoyoos, BC. She was employed at the Monashee Co-Op for over 25 years until her retirement in 1993.

Connie enjoyed gardening and cooking, and was a proud collector of ceramic figurines.

She became the matriarch of the family at a young age after her parents’ passing. Her caring and generous nature will be remembered always by family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. DeVries and all the nurses who cared for Connie during her illness, as well as the hard-working staff at Mariposa Gardens who supported her during her final days.

Prayers will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Monday June 12, 2017 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday June 13, 2017 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Interment and committal will follow at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery. A reception in the church lower hall will follow the interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Connie’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the BC Cancer Foundation.
