Tribute
Dal was born August 2, 1939 in Kelowna, BC and passed away peacefully on June 12, 2017 in Oliver, BC.
Predeceased by his father and mother Harry and Winifred Carter and brothers Don Carter, Morley Carter and Ron Carter.
Survived by his wife, Shannon Gaye Carter; children: Diane Gludovatz (Tyler, Amy David & Lisa), Phillip Bruce & Menu Prasad (Harrison, Michaela & Ryan), Rhonda Bruce & Mark Mattes (Rodney, Becky, Chris & Kayla), Gwyenith Bruce & Wade Duncan (Stewart, Elizabeth & Shelsey) and Moira Brookes (Connor & Ariel) as well as 6 great-grandchildren.
Dal grow up in Oliver, as a child he loved swimming, singing, dancing and helping in his father’s family bakery. Dal became a truck driver, so he could “see the world”.
Marrying and raising his daughter Diane. His family changed and then grew from 2 to 7 when he met Gaye. His extended family was showered with love. The love he had for life extended above and beyond his family.
Dal was a man of “many hats”; fireman, by-laws officer, member of town council, Mayor of Oliver, bus driver, dog catcher and best of all “Santa Claus”.
His smile, jolly laugh and soul is what he will best be remembered by. Oliver will truly miss their Santa Claus.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 P.M., Thursday June 22, 2017 at the Valley Congregational Church on Black Sage Road.
