Deattar Boleak

Tribute
Boleak, Deattar: of Oliver BC, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at the age of 58, after a courageous battle with cancer over the last year. He was surrounded by family and friends joined in prayer in both traditional and Native American ceremonies.
Deattar is lovingly remembered by his partner and friend Madelon Stevens. He is also survived by his mother Mary Boleak (nee Kirlik); his children Spencer, Shaylyn, and Brennan (Dale) with grandson Bradley Keightley; his sisters Ruth (Gary) Frick and Anne Ingram; his brothers John, Edward (Donna) and Leonard (Sandra); his step-children Rosemary Lancaster, Grace Pylatuk, and Elizabeth (Michael) Curtis; and by his numerous nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.
Deattar was predeceased by his father Johann Boleak in August 2008.
Deattar loved gardening, hockey, softball, wine tasting, stamp collecting, and all family activities. Donations in his memory can be made to the South Okanagan General Hospital Palliative Care Unit (R.R. 3, 7139 – 362nd Avenue, Oliver, BC V0H 1T0) and the BC Cancer Foundation (#600 – 688 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1G1)
A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Oliver United Church, with a reception following at the Oliver Elks Hall.
