Diane passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on October 15, 2023, in Penticton Regional Hospital at the age of 57. She leaves behind her daughter, Melissa Waldron.
Diane was born on May 12, 1966, in North Vancouver B.C. to Father Marvin Young and Mother Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Gardner) Young. She grew up with three older siblings; one brother and two sisters. In 1991, she settled in Oliver where she raised Melissa alongside her parents.
Diane had a profound work ethic from the moment she got her first job at the age of 12 years old. She worked at notable places in the community such as Willowbrook Meats, Petro-Canada (Nk’Mip Gas), Heritage House and SIR. She also spent close to 10 years delivering water throughout the Okanagan Valley for Water Pure & Simple, Culligan and Grizzly Springs.
Diane would take the shirt off her back if you needed it or a safe place to call home. She taught those around her how to be independent and that no job was too tough regardless of gender or size. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, including taking care of her mother, Betty.
Diane loved all things nature: camping, birds, frogs, hummingbirds, and flowers. She loved to garden, especially tending to her petunias in the summer where she would attract her rare-sighted hummingbird hawk moths also happy just sitting back and watching a good movie.
Diane is survived by her mother Betty; daughter Melissa (Darren); brother Robert (Jackie); sisters Carol (Tim) and Heather, as well as extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her father Marvin.
A celebration of life will be held in May 2024.

Diane, I met you when you worked at NkMip Petro Can. You always had a warm smile for me. I loved getting to know you, talking about petunias (Starry Night!), frogs, snakes, and other wildlife. You will be missed.

Although I only knew Diane as a young girl & teen, I do remember her lovely energy, effervescent personality, smile and great sense of humour! I am sure you will all miss her very much.

I still cherish the memories of the times our family (Kelly Christiansen) spent with your family back in the Vancouver days. Horse back riding with Diane, running back and forth between the 2 properties, and having tea with Auntie Betty and our Mom, Lynne. Very fond memories.
