Donald Scott
January 23, 1934 - June 21, 2017
Tribute
On Wednesday June 21, 2017, Mr. Donald Murphy Scott of Osoyoos passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Penticton Regional Hospital at the age of 83 years.
Donald was born in Radisson, Saskatchewan, the son of a pioneer resident, Peter J. Scott. His mother was Tena Warkentin who arrived in Saskatchewan in 1925 from South Russia. The family moved to Mission B.C. in 1942. After leaving school he returned to the Prairies with his brothers but later returned to the Lower Mainland. Donald was very industrious; he worked in the logging industry, partnership in Seafari Charters as well as a gas station in Vancouver. As the Lord would have it, it was at this gas station that a young woman came along asking to use the telephone. One telephone call led to another and in 1959 Donald married Marjorie Critoll. Together they enjoyed four children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren and 58 years of marriage.
Donald retired from LaFarge Concrete in Vancouver after 23 years of service as a Heavy Duty Mechanic. In 1996, he and Marjorie moved to Osoyoos to build his dream on Chapman Road. For 21 years he opened his home to friends and family. He has always been a committed member of the church community, both the Little Brown Church and Grace Lutheran. Donald’s passion was restoring antique cars and entertaining his grandchildren. For 10 years he was a dedicated volunteer fire fighter for the Anarchist Fire Department.
He is survived by his loving wife Marjorie, his four children; Michael (Karen), Murray (Donna), Gregory (Lillian), Heather (Lyndon) as well as nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother’s John and Peter and survived by sisters Lucie and Susan, and brother Henry.
A memorial service will be held July 7th, 2017 at 2pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 6 Finch Crescent, Osoyoos, BC.
Donations are gratefully accepted for Anarchist Mtn. Fire Department, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada or a charity of one’s choice.

I always remembered Don as a fine quiet man. He helped me when I was widowed by taking old car parts from my bsmt. as he was restoring cars at the time. My condolences to Marjorie and family. Helen Gorrie

Although we only had the pleasure of meeting with Don twice he left a considerable impression and is an inspiration to the both of us. We are very sorry for your loss.
From: Catherine Scott
Relation: Granddaughter in-law.
So honoured to have known this kind, generous, and hospitable man who was the great grandfather to my two precious boys. I cherish all the memories of family vacations we were able to spend with you in your home on Anarchist Mtn. I am sad that I wasn’t able to attend to service, but I am thankful that Cam was able to say goodbye to you on the day you passed as well as properly celebrate the amazing life you lived while you were on this earth. See you soon, but not too soon precious Grandpa Don, Love Catherine.
