Donald Steinbart
February 24, 1949 - October 23, 2023
Tribute
On Monday, October 23, 2023 Donald Steinbart of Osoyoos passed away peacefully at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 74.
Don enjoyed life and all it had to offer. Growing up in West Vancouver, he loved playing football, baseball, and road hockey in the park across from his childhood home with all the neighbourhood kids. Don loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time hiking the North Shore mountains.
He was always happy to help anyone in need. A handyman extraordinaire, he was always working on a project or helping friends and neighbours. During his 31 years as a West Vancouver firefighter, Don generously donated his time to many charitable organizations. In particular, the West Van Santa Claus Fund, where he spent many hours fixing bikes for kids. He always said that every kid should have a bike.
Don and his wife, Betty, moved to Osoyoos, where Don kept busy renovating their retirement home. He continued to stay active in slo-pitch, curling, and walking, as well as enjoying lakeside living. His love for his grandchildren was unmeasurable and he always looked forward to their visits. He gave the biggest hugs and even more tickles.
To the end, he battled cancer with bravery and strength. He was the best husband, father, and grandfather that anyone could ask for. He will be dearly missed by wife Betty, children Kim, Brad, and Andrea, five grandchildren and brother Arne. While he may be gone from our sight, he is forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Oncology Campaign at South Okanagan Similkameen Medical foundation.

Dear Betty and family. So sorry to hear of Don’s passing. So many fond memories of our Tomahawk slow pitch team days together. Don was a wonderful team mate and I also believe he made many of the trophies that the current team still uses! Holding you all close in thoughts and prayers 💓🙏🏻
