Dodds, Donna Lucy Jean (nee: Trotter) of Turner Valley, Alberta

At the age of 87 Donna passed away peacefully Friday, June 2, 2023 at Osoyoos, BC.

Donna was born in Turner Valley to Edith Lucy (King) Trotter and Thomas Wentworth Trotter of Millarville, Alberta. While she suffered from polio at a young age, her tenacity brought her through to athletic pursuits and a full, active life.

Donna was a nurse, mother, wife, and grandmother. She had tremendous zest for life which she imparted to her children and shared with others through her love of nature, wild places, birds, horses, appreciating cultures, music, dancing, cooking up together as a family, and celebrating with many a friend. Donna packed life full from her youth to senior years with cherished animals, adventure, hiking, travel, and her love of connection through observation and conversation.

While Donna loved all animals, she especially loved her cats. Over her lifetime she nurtured many a stray in loving comfort to health, companionship, and happiness.

She is survived by her son Gordon MacNiel (Kerrie) of White Rock, BC, and her daughters, Deborah MacNiel of Bentley, AB, Alix MacNiel (Bob) of Vancouver, BC, Laura MacNiel (Anthony) of Osoyoos, BC and her 3 grandchildren, Georgia, Logan & Jessi. She was predeceased by her sister, Diana Lanier, brother, Rod Trotter, and husbands, John Malcolm Dodds and Hugh Cameron MacNiel.

Donna’s wishes are to be cremated and her ashes spread at Millarville, AB and in the Kananaskis mountains of Alberta. She did not wish to have a service.

As a family we appreciate all whom have known Donna and contributed to enriching her life.
