Tribute

On November 15, 2017, Mrs. Doris Victoria Gaines (nee Lovberg) of Oliver passed away peacefully at Bevan Village in Abbotsford, B.C., at the age of 80 years.

Doris was predeceased by Ken, her loving husband of 57 years.  She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Debbie (Terry), son Gary (Gail), and son Ron (Leslie); grandchildren Danielle, T.J., Ryan, Ethan, Dallas and Taylor.

Doris enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, trips to Saskatchewan to visit her family, gardening, crocheting, covering clothes hangers and helping others.

She was a dedicated wife and mother and also worked as a Homemaker, assisting others, for a number of years.  Doris was always very active in the community.  She was a member of the F.O.E. and the Royal Canadian Legion.  She was also a volunteer and later President of the Surrey Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.  In 1989 Doris and Ken moved to Oliver, where she became a member of the Oliver Elks, Royal Purple and volunteered much of her time to the South Okanagan Health Care Society, helping to raise thousands of dollars for the community through the Thrift Shop.

She was a very special lady, and will be missed by all who knew her.
