Tribute
On Tuesday, February 28, 2023. Dorothy Ida (Daku) Barker passed away peacefully at her home, age 74, after an 18-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Predeceased by her parents, John P and Helen Daku, sister Liz, Driedger, and brother Gabe Daku.
Survived by her husband, Brian Barker and her family, Amber (Seth), Heather (Royden), Derek and Kayla. Grandchildren, Lila, Ronin, Lily and Jake. Her sisters, Sue, Marge, Ev, Elly (Peter) and brother Dave (Linda). Several nieces and nephews. Numerous friends that she considered as family.
Using her degree in Early Childhood Education Dorothy’s favourite was working with children, they seemed to instantly bond with her nurturing care and love.
Dorothy had a great and satisfying faith in the Lord and lead her life in his service.
She will fondly be remembered for her warm and generous spirit and the love she had for her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday March 11, 2023 at the Osoyoos Christian Centre with a reception to follow in the Osoyoos Christian Centre reception hall.

Hi Veena please can you send this msg to Brian maybe at funeral if it’s ok from me. Dear Brian l am so sorry to hear about Dorothy. My deepest sympathies to you and all the families. May the Lord bless and comfort you. To me Doy was a precious friend from the time we met at FGBI. She never forgot me though oceans and time separated us. She always remembered us and our children then their children on birthdays and Christmas time especially. I remember her generous heart always giving even having Valentine and l visiting in Banff with a ride in the cable car over the scenic Banff mountains. She was always waiting for her healing miracle “tomorrow”and now it has come safe and at peace with Jesus. I mourn for her but not as those who have no hope for l know we shall meet again for joy cometh in the morning. God bless and comfort you all at this sad time🙏🏽

Aunty Dot was a faithful friend to my mom (Cheeky) they met in Bible school in the 70s and remained firm lifelong friends. Aunty Dot “adopted” my brother and I as two of her many, many other nieces and nephews from around the world, but treated us as though we were the only ones. When I moved to Canada at the age of 19, aunty Dot was there to help both physically and financially. But most valuable to me was the fact that she was also there to pray whenever and whatever the circumstance.
Her faith in Jesus was unshakeable- and in these last years she still prayed with faith for her “day of miraculous healing” which we know finally came on Feb 28.
She is loved, she is missed. All my love and condolences to Uncle Brian and the rest of the family.
