Dorothy Revesz

April 2, 1926 - July 18, 2017

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Anne Revesz on July 18, 2017 after a gradual decline in health.  She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.

Dorothy will always and forever be remembered by her four children and (spouses): Garry (Gail) Revesz, Bill (Cathy) Revesz, Lynne (Steve) Fowler, Mark (LeeAnne) Revesz, and daughter-in-law Donna Revesz; nine grandchildren: Nicole, Linnea, Michelle, Danielle, Bryan, Tempest, Kathryn, Kayla and Danika; eleven great-grand children and one great, great granddaughter; sister Donna Romanchuk, numerous nieces and nephews and her many friends and acquaintances.

Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Peter, son Joseph (Joe), grandson Jonathan, sister Evelyn and brother-in-law Thomas Gracey, and parents William and Anne Romanchuk.

Dorothy was born on April 2, 1926 and raised in Stockholm, Saskatchewan where she and Peter farmed and began raising their family.  In 1964, they moved to Osoyoos where she held various jobs, including the Irly-Bird Hardware Store, Osoyoos Super-Value, Osoyoos Credit Union, and the Osoyoos Co-op Packing House.

Dorothy was active in her communities through her involvement with St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Women’s League in Stockholm Saskatchewan, the executive of the Girl Guide & Boy Scout organization in Stockholm, St. Anne’s Catholic Parish Church, and the Catholic Women’s League.

As a member of the Catholic Women’s League, Dorothy served on the executive, organized funeral luncheons and helped with numerous parish activities.  She also volunteered with Mariposa Gardens reading program, and provided square dance entertainment for various clubs and senior facilities throughout the valley.

Dorothy’s passion was cooking and baking.  No one ever went hungry when they came into her home.  She loved to provide meals or baked goods for anyone in need.  When able, she was the chauffeur for events in the community, especially the community theatre.  She was also an accomplished horseback rider.

Dorothy and Peter started Square Dancing in 1954 in Saskatchewan and continued dancing throughout their lives in B.C.  Peter, a square-dance caller and teacher with Dorothy assisting, made numerous friends throughout Canada and the United States.

A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday July 27, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. and a Funeral Mass on Friday July 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., will be held for Dorothy, both at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 7610 – 87th Street, Osoyoos. B.C.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made in memory of Dorothy to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, BC Children’s Hospital, St. Anne’s Catholic Parish, or a charity of your choice.

We are grateful to Dr. Bellingan and the staff at Mariposa Gardens Desert Sage 1 for the friendly and efficient care and compassion they showed Dorothy.

I wish we could have attended the services for Aunt Dorothy, but health is an issue right now. We did so enjoy talking with her whenever we had a chance to meet. She was a very lovely woman and you will miss her a lot.
