Douglas Evans

February 2, 1956 - April 28, 2024

Tribute

On Sunday April 28, 2024, Douglas Norris Evans of Oliver B.C. passed away suddenly in Osoyoos B.C. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

Doug was predeceased by his mother, Winnifred Evans; his brother Wayne Evans; and brother-in-law Jon Dekteroff. Left behind to mourn his passing are: daughter Tracy Evans of Cranbrook, B.C.; his dad Jerry (Wendy) Evans, sisters Julie Dekteroff and Donna (Roger) Prior, and one brother Stephen (Bonnie) Evans. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews; Jenny (Kirk), Jason, Trevor (Jessica), Tanya (Chris), Blaine (Virginia), Shawn, Colton (Valeria), and Chelsea; as well as great nieces; Jalen & Jayda, Olivia, and Lydia; and one great nephew; Grayson.

Doug spent most of his life in Oliver working as a carpenter. He was a very hard worker and a perfectionist when it came to his carpentry work – always made sure everything was square and done right. Doug was a fun-loving uncle and loved to cook. He was a Casanova and a self-proclaimed jokester – always laughing at his own jokes.

Doug had a lot of friends who were family, including the Stelkia’s and the Crucetti’s, and many other friends in Oliver. Doug was best friends with the late Robert Stelkia for many, many years and will be missed dearly by Silvia, Jessica & Jackie, as well as the rest of the Stelkia family.

Doug spent a number of years on the reserve in Oliver, helping build houses and riding horses. Doug loved horseback riding. Although he was not native, he sure believed he belonged on the reserve as one of them.

A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Friday May 24, 2024 at the Oliver Seventh-day Adventist Church A private spreading of Doug’s ashes will follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choosing.
