Tribute

On Thursday October 24, 2013, Mr. Edward John Barbin of Oliver passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side at the age of 81 years.

He was predeceased by his parents Gabriel and Emilia Barbin.

Edward will be fondly remembered by his loving wife Ruth of 59 years; children Chris (Kelly), Janet (Albert) Schalm and Katherine (Greg) Schellenberg; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ed was a proud veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy. He also worked for over thirty years as a Respiratory Technologist. He was a member of the Navy Vets Association in Penticton and in various stamp clubs.

He enjoyed camping, collecting stamps, visiting with family, x-country skiing, swimming, reading, watching sports on TV and was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan.

Ed was a Christian and was involved and volunteered with many church activities and over the years he was a member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship. Edward also volunteered as a life guard.

A private family urn interment and committal at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery Veterans Field of Honour will precede the service. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday November 1, 2013 at the Oliver Alliance Church.

Heaven will never be the same. With Ed and Steve and so many other other dear friends who have all entered into the presence of our dear Lord, there will be laughter, and love and praise by all. Yes, the angels were ready for Ed.
His friendship and imput in our bible study is something I will always treasure and the love from the whole family so appreciated. My love and prayers to all of you and especially you Ruthie. Ed will always be a part of you. Love, hugs and prayers. Betty-Jo
