Edward Gee

May 23, 1933 - January 25, 2020

Tribute

On Saturday, January 25, 2020, Mr. Edward James Gee of Osoyoos passed away peacefully at Hillside Centre in Kamloops at the age of 86 years.

Ed will be fondly remembered by his loving family including wife Alice May Gee of Osoyoos; daughter Jodi Gee and grandsons Devan and Tyler of Abbotsford as well as extended family.

Ed was a proud member of the RCMP from 1958 – 1990 and retired as a Sergeant.

In the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, Ed enjoyed coming to the Osoyoos Curling Club bonspiel to “unwind” and meet up with old friends. He was a competitive curler and in 1964 won the Canadian Police Curling Bonspiel. Ed was a member of the Canadian, BC and the Interior Curling Associations.

Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Service Staff send our condolences to family and friends.

From: Allan Craig
Relation: A friend.

We were saddened when Jean told us of Ed’s passing. We always enjoyed our too infrequent visits when you popped in to Kelowna, particularly reminiscing about the old days in Flin Flon. Our thoughts are with you.

From: Mike Weightman
Relation: Just a kid who admired him in the 60's.

I remember Eddy when he was a young member in Chilliwack in the early 60’s, he used to visit our neighbour while working and he always looked awesome in uniform. I was just a little kid and he’s always say hello. He left a lasting impression and probably one of the reasons I had a great career in the force as well. RIP Eddy and my sincere condolences to your family and friends.

From: Margaret
Relation: Friend of the family

My sister Maxine, brother Tom and I Margaret foundly remember Ed from Chilliwack. Ed was a friend of our parents (both deceased) Ed gave my sister a green dyed rooster for he birthday as a joke , the roosters name was Ike.

Alice
I was saddened to hear of Eds passing. I remember him fondly from my days in Nelson when we sometimes
met on the curling sheets. He was a true passionate curler and meeting up with him in Osoyoos some 30-50 years
later, I found him still involved with his love of the game.

From: HEATHER FLEMING
Relation: Former co-worker

My condolences to the family. I worked with Ed at the Mission RCMP station for just about 2 years, and it was such a joy. RIP Ed

From: Melvin James
Relation: A friend for many years.

I am so sad to hear of Ed’s passing. He was a good friend for many years, both on and off the golf course.

From: Rob Jardine
Relation: friend

I remember Ed with fondness. We shared many hours of work together at Chilliwack Detachment. He was well respected for his police knowledge. I also had the pleasure to curl with Ed in bonspiels. I learned a lot about curling from Ed. After Ed moved to the Okanagan, he would phone me to meet at Ricky’s for coffee, on his way to visit Jodi. He always spoke so kindly of you, Alice. Please accept my condolences.

From: Doreen Brisbin
Relation: Friend

Dear Alice May and family:
My deepest sympathy to you and your family in the loss of your husband Ed. I Doreen (McClelland) Brisbin went to school with Ed in Nipawin. My husband Norm was also in the RCMP and the last time we saw you was in Nipawin when Guyle Fielder had a street named after him in the town. Please know that others care and cherish all the good times you have had together.
Love, Doreen Brisbin

From: Lorne Lowe
Relation: Through the great sport of curling. May Ed rest in peace.

I can attest to Ed’s being a very good and competitive curler. We (Neil Dickson, Dave Wilson, Rae Bailey & Lorne Lowe) won the B.C. Police Curling Championship, when Ed missed his final shot. Ed & his team had controlled the game and accepted the loss gracefully. He didn’t miss very many…………
