Elizabeth "Libby" Pugh

July 2, 1950 - April 23, 2016

Tribute

Pugh, Elizabeth Blair, cherished daughter, sister, niece, aunt, mother, and generous friend, died on April 23, 2016 in the Oliver hospital. “Libby” was born in Oliver in 1950. She shared a deep connection with nature and animals and loved hiking, horseback riding, skiing, swimming and digging in the earth. Libby possessed a rare combination of sweetness and grit. Despite a crushing life-long illness, Libby’s quick wit and loving spirit endured. She was full of wonder and creativity and laughter. She had boundless compassion and gave what little she had to others in need. Thank you Libby for touching our lives in ways we could never have imagined.

Libby is predeceased by her father, David Pugh, her mother, Winifred Pugh, and her brother, Roger Pugh. She is survived by her sisters, Meredith, Deborah, Alison, and Mary, brothers, David, Donald, and John, by her Aunt San, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday April 29, 2016 at the Country Squire Retirement Villa. A private celebration of Libby’s life will be held at the family home at Gallagher Lake. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the B.C. Schizophrenia Society or the Country Squire Rehab Activities Fund would be greatly appreciated.

Libby’s family extends gratitude to Dr. Jaco Bellingan and the nursing staff at the Oliver hospital for your kindness and care.

I knew Libby at SOSS in 1970. She hung out in one of the groups I associated with.
She was always pleasant and usually had a smile for me. I haven’t been in touch with Libby since school, but I have fond memories of her.
I am sorry for your loss, I too grieve for her.

Hi family. I know all of you…except Meddie; you are just a little older but you definitely knew my brother-in-law Bryan! The Hext clan have many fond memories of the Pugh clan. Our parents were great friends first. Then Mary and Debbie chummed. Dave, you were kind of in the middle between Mary and I but I chummed with Libby.
John and Alison were great friends and of course Rob spent many days with Roger and John.
I am so sorry to hear that Libby has past but I know that she will have found peace.
Love to you all. Gerald and I live in the old white castle. You are welcome to drop by.

Hello to all the Dear Pugh family,
I have only just heard of Libby’s death and I am feeling rather sad as I loved her. I am writing here as I have absolutely no e-mail or snail mail addresses for any of you.

I remember going down to your little house on the orchard and being allowed, by Freddy, to feed her. I guess I was about12 or so. I used to see her occasionally here in Vancouver when she lived near us in Kits. I now know that she is in a better place and that she is completely whole again. I have just spoken to Diana who had been talking to Al who told her about the lovely service they had at her care home. I know that she will be fondly remembered by all of us and I would think that she is having tea up in heaven with Freddy and Stanley.

Our love to you all. Nora and Ron XO XO XO XO XO XO

I used to go horseback riding with Libby & Alison, we rode for miles in those days there were hardly any fences, just the odd cattle guard. Libby was so much fun to be with. I hope she is at peace and my condolences to the family. Hugs to you all.

I am so sorry to hear of Libby’s passing. I have such fond memories of you all, especially, Alison, who I have many wonderful memories. I spent many times out at your place at Gallagher Lake. The house was full of fun! I remember Libby and her beauty – inside and out. Love Val Dyck.
