Tribute
In Loving Memory of
Betty (Elizabeth Ann) Persinger
March 18, 1933- Jan 7, 2011
Betty passed away peacefully in the company of her devoted husband, and many close friends. She will be missed by her loving husband, Maynard, step-daughter, Violet, granddaughter, Anna, niece Sandy and all who had the chance to know her.
Between war, communism and a strife-torn family, Betty”s childhood in Budapest was very difficult. Escaping Hungary in 1956, she chose to come to Canada and after working a short time in Penticton, she moved to Oliver where she met Maynard. She worked many years in the fruit packing industry and met many of her friends while working. Betty was a loving wife, a great friend and cared for natures’ creatures. With her zest for life, she inspired many people. In spite of her often poor health, she chose to focus on the positive. Her motto was simply, ” Life is beautiful.”
On her refrigerator door, a hand taped quote mirrored her view on life:
“Celebrate your life from the glow of the morning light to
the sparkle of the evening stars.”
Betty did not wish a ceremony to mark her passing. She is with the Lord now.
Maynard thanks Dr Willis and the many other doctors, nurses and home-care givers associated with the South Okanagan General Hospital for their skill and the kindness Betty received during her illness. In lieu of flowers, if so wished, a donation could be made to the Canadian Cancer Society on Betty”s behalf.

Relation: 'Mom'
Betty was a second Mom to our family. She was the poster child for ‘think positively’. Every conversation with Betty ended with “Life is Beautiful”. We are blessed that Betty and Maynard became such a large part of our lives. And that legacy carried on to our children with ‘Nana Betty’.
Betty, you have left us with a wealth of memories that will hold you in our hearts forever.

From: Debby Carson
Relation: Mom
“Just being born is a miracle,
to grow and make a difference in this
wonderful world, is grace indeed…
… but to live a life that touches others
is amazing beyond compare.”
Betty, Nana, Great-Nana; you have touched our hearts and souls.
You will be missed, but not forgotten.

From: Kim Maloney
Relation: Nana
I think the greatest lesson I’ve learned from my Nana is to think positively no matter what the circumstance & don’t be afraid or ashamed to say what you’re feeling. I’ll take that lesson with me forever, along with the memory of Nana <3

From: Murray and Glenda Silk
Relation: Friends
Glenda and I send our thoughts to Maynard, we are certain Betty is in a better place and pain free. We will see you soon.
