Tribute

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ellen Mak Ang Wong (nee Chin), dear wife of Chee Wong, on Tues April 20, 2022 five days short of her 71^st birthday. She left us peacefully after a lengthy illness but we are grateful she is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior.

Predeceased by her parents and one sister and brother, she is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Chee Wong, and will be extremely missed by her three brothers Joe, San and Kim and two sister Betsy and Belinda and their families.  Ellen’s caring nature, warmth and love drew people together.  It is with the same warmth that many including her nephew and niece Christopher and Jocelyn Wong whom she helped raise; Anh Hoang; and stepchildren Lynn (Ross), Winston and Julia; Ivan and Aidan refer to her as honorary Mother and Grandmother.

Ellen emigrated from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Canada in 1986 and established a life first in Fort McMurray, AB and then Burnaby, BC when she married, and finally landed by Gallagher Lake outside of Oliver, BC where she lived the last 20 years enjoying the beauty of the Okanagan.  She volunteered with the Okanagan Gleaners for many years, and established enduring friendships with many in her community of Deer Park Estates. She loved watching cooking videos and trying new recipes, eating, and travelling on many cruises with her husband and friends.

No service was requested; instead, take a moment to reflect on the wonderful times spent with her.  If you wish, donations would be gratefully accepted in her memory to the South Okanagan General Hospital where the staff provided wonderful care to Ellen.
