Elsie Kelley
September 9, 1922 - November 30, 2012
Tribute
Elsie was born to Simon Eberle and Mary Hildenbrandt and was orphaned at the early age of 11 and was passed from sibling to sibling during tough times for all.
Mom headed out at the age of 14, from Saskatchewan by bus, destination Oliver . There, she started a new life, caring for new born nephews and nieces. Eventually, finding seasonal work in the local packing houses of Oliver where she received accreditation for her apple packing.
She was never idle, always thinking of her families well being.
Elsie with husband George enjoyed square dancing in her beautiful dresses
during the early years.
Mom was a fabulous cook, passing on her secrets to her family. She was a regular member of the Lutheran Church and her faith never waned.
Mom had a home based Amway business for 14 years.
After George passed in 1996 in Oliver, Elsie moved to Penticton and enjoyed playing cards, reading, baking, walking and once again enjoying her faith. It seemed Mom was always baking to show someone her appreciation for the smallest of things. Her lemon pies were a welcome sight to many.
In 2007, Elsie moved to Lillooet to be closer to family. Mom spent time watching the birds and being surrounded by pets.
She was very independent. She used to think everyone was so nice to her because of knowing her family, but it was her beautiful smile and kind way. Following a short hospital stay, Elsie passed away comfortably at daughter Dawn`s home in Lillooet on November 30, 2012.
Survived by her son Dave (Deb), grandchildren, Kimberly and Josh, and daughter Dawn (Ken) Olynyk,; sister in law, Edna Eberle and the extended Eberle, Knodel and Krenn families. She was predeceased by her parents, husband George and twelve siblings
We love you Mom and Grandma.
