Evelyn Gillis

Tribute
Evelyn passed away suddenly at the South Okanagan General Hospital with her daughter, Carmen Gillis, at her side. Evelyn’s charismatic, infectious smile and joyful nature drew many friends to her. Her faith in God helped her overcome the many obstacles and trials in her life. Family was always her number one priority. She considered Motherhood to be her full-time job and was wonderful at it. She was predeceased by her older sister, Virginia Grant of Oliver and her twin sons, James Dougald Arthur Gillis and Daniel Joseph Gillis. Evelyn was very loved by all who knew her and she gave so much love in return.
Evelyn very much enjoyed her gardening, nature, music, kitties and her beloved Hospital Thrift Shop trips. She lived every day with a grateful heart and always looked for the very best in people. Evelyn and Carmen were best of friends and could be seen toodling around town together. She made many sacrifices for her family and worked hard to make sure her children were happy and healthy. The expression “Nothing like a Mother’s Love” had to be written about her. She will be greatly missed by all and will never be forgotten and always be loved.
Finally, you have your Angel wings. Fly and be free.

A scattering service will be held at 11:30 am, Sunday, September 2, 2018 at the Oliver Cemetery Scattering Garden.

Dear Carmen.
I am very sorry to read here of the passing of your mother Evelyn.
She was a very kind soul who I remember well as a dedicated mother to you and your brothers, a very dedicated woman to her religious faith as well as someone who always made it through many tough times in life which she credited to her strong faith.
I remember meeting her for the first time saying hello to me and asking me how I was doing like she knew me very well when I was a young boy going on 10 years old that year back in the summer of 1977.
I hope you are doing fine and please feel free to contact me any time.
