Florence (Flossie) Forrest

.On Sunday October 18, 2015, Mrs. Florence Forrest (Flossie) of Coquitlam and a formerly long time resident of Oliver passed away at the Madison Retirement home in Coquitlam at the age of 95 years.
She was predeceased by her husband William Forrest in January of 1998.
Flossie will be fondly remembered by her loving family including son Bob Forrest of Pentiction; daughter Sandra Strugess ( Jim ) in Coquitlam; her grandchildren Keri Sutherland (Ian) of Coquitlam, Michael Sturgess of Vancouver, Jeffrey Forrest ( Jessie) of Penticton and Sean Forrest of Vancouver as well as great-grandchildren Jordan and Avery Sutherland and Kael and Ayla Forrest.
She grew up on a farm in Lillydale, Saskatchewan with three sisters and three brothers. Flossie rode horseback to and from Lillydale School. She married William Forrest in August 1947 and moved to Oliver in 1948 where she resided for 66 years and raised her son and daughter. What she loved most was spending time with her family.
Flossie’s life should be celebrated because she was fortunate enough to watch her children grow up, her grandchildren grow up and meet her great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly missed by her family and friends.
Over the years Flossie was a homemaker and in the summertime worked in the Oliver Packing House.
They enjoyed many summers in their campervan visiting family in Saskatchewan, camping with their many Oliver friends at the Rock Creek Campground and was a longtime member of the Oliver United Church.
She resided at Meadow Gardens and enjoyed many card nights with her neighbors. Flossie loved to play her piano for her family or friends whenever she could.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday October 24, 2015 at the Oliver United Church. Interment and committal will follow at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery. A reception in the church lower hall will follow the committal.

Hi Sandy and Jim,
So sorry to see that your mother passed away. I know you had told me that you had sold her condo in Oliver and moved her down closer to you. I haven’t seen her in a number of years, but when I did, she always seemed to know me and remember my family, especially my dad, Rudy.
